The contract for design consulting services in the first and second phases (phases zero and one) of Qeshm Shiite mosque architecture was signed in January 2023 between Metra Consulting Engineers Company and Qeshm Free Commercial-Industrial Zone Organization and was announced in April 2023

Shiite mosque complex with all-boys and all-girls seminaries, Qeshm daily mosque, and other buildings are included in the Qeshm Shiite Grand Mosque Complex Project. This 634.17-m² mosque is built on 5 separate levels on an area of about 42,000 m².

The foundation stone for this valuable complex was laid at the same time as the birth anniversary of mankind’s savior, Hazrat Mahdi (A.S.). The construction of the Grand Mosque and Imam Ali (AS) Mosque of Qeshm began when the island desperately needed such a holy structure. The need for the Grand Mosque can be understood from the words of the CEO of the Qeshm Free Commercial-Industrial Zone Organization, who has emphasized the importance of constructing a dignified complex for Friday prayer in this region since his arrival on the island.

“A special glory and manifestation of the unity of Muslims is the presence of the Shia and Sunni brothers and sisters of this island together, especially during religious ceremonies. For the establishment of special rituals, particularly the religious and political Friday prayer, Imam Ali Mosque (AS) is a significant cultural and religious symbol.” These are some of Afshar Fatholahi’s words, in which he described the building of the Grand Mosque in Qeshm as a representation of the solidarity and unity of the Islamic nation.

Metra Consulting Engineers Company is in charge of conducting the project’s preliminary investigations and studies and developing the conceptual design. The project is expected to take 9 months to complete.
